Exchanging Driving Licence
Driving licences issued in the European Union and the (EEA: Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein) which conform to the E.E.C. Norms (i.e. With photograph and E.E.C. Logo) retain their validity in Spain, with the exception that they correspond to the age requirements stipulated for Spanish driving licences.
Documents required for exchange of driving licence:
- Application form from Oficina Tráfico, Calle Manuel Azaña, 50 , 07006 Palma Tel 971 465400
- Registration certificate for residents of the E.EC
- Medical certificate from a "Centro de Reconocimiento de Conductores" . There is a recognised medical centre very near to the Traffic office in Palma (Renewal only)
- Original + photocopy of passport/I.D
- Original + photocopy of N.I.E. Number
- 2 Passport photos size 32 x 25 mm
- You will have to sign a declaration at the Traffic office verifying that apart from the driving licence issued in Spain, you are no longer holder of any other class of driving licence, in the European community.
- Pay fee (Tasa II.3) of € 17,80 (in 2007)
Important : It is your responsibilty to have your correct address on the licence. If you do not , the licence is invalid and you will not be covered by insurance companies .
